2025 Summer Exhibition

Francis H. Richardson: The Ipswich Years

This summer exhibition offers a rare and personal look at the work of Francis H. Richardson (1859-1935), one of notable and a contemporary of Arthur Wesley Dow, Henry Kenyon, and Carl Nordstrom. Curated by his granddaughter, Stephanie Gaskins, the exhibition focuses on Richardson’s time living and working in Ipswich, drawing primarily from the family collection. Many of the featured works still hang in the house and adjacent studio Richard built in the early 1900s-spaces.

Featuring family portraits, seasonal New England scenes, and late 19th-century motifs, Francis H. Richardson: The Ipswich Years explores the artist’s evolving process, his deep connection to place, and the legacy of a life shaped by art and home. Join us for a special curator-lead lecture with Stephanie Gaskins on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at 7:30pm, as she shares personal insights into her grandfather’s work and the stories behind these rarely exhibited paintings.
