In this one hour talk, Dr. Charlotte Gordon tells the story of Bradstreet’s life and explains the importance of her poetry. As the first published poet from the New World, Bradstreet establishes a new “plaine style” of writing and was the first to articulate a new “American” identity for the British colonists.
Charlotte is an award-winning author whose work has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post, among other publications. She is a distinguished professor of the Humanities at Endicott College. She speaks frequently at colleges and conferences, and has been interviewed on numerous radio and television programs.
