Wednesday Evening Lecture

June 16 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

Wednesday Evening Lecture “Sleeping in the 17th Century” Reception 5:30-7pm; lecture 7:30pm. John Fiske, Professor Emeritus University of Wisconsin Madison, Chair of Ipswich Historical Commission and member of the Collections Committee will do a presentation on the importance of a bed regarding Captain John Whipple’s place in the social structure of Ipswich. Not a single bed from that time period has survived. Therefore if a museum wishes to show an authentically furnished parlor, the bed has to be a replica. Jon Ording of Ipswich was able to recreate what one woul look like and another expert Rabbit Goody of Thistle Hill Weavers has created historically accurate hangings. The replica bed will be on display in the parlor at the Whipple House.
