DESCRIPTION:Join us for an immersive experience where students will discover the art of printmaking from scratch under the expert guidance of local artist Ashley Doke. \nIn this engaging printmaking class\, younger artists will explore how to turn simple materials into creative works of art. \nUsing Styrofoam as their printing block\, students will draw and press their designs to create unique prints\, experimenting with both vibrant color and classic black and white. \nInspired by the landscapes of Arthur Wesley Dow\, students will focus on simple shapes\, contrast\, and balanced compositions in their artwork. \nBy the end of the class\, each artist will take home their original Styrofoam printing block\, a collection of their prints\, and the skills and confidence to continue printmaking at home \nSuitable for ages 6-10 \nPrice: $40 for Members\, $50 for Non-Members \nAll necessary supplies will be provided. \nDate: Wednesday\, April 29\, 2026\nTime: 3:45-4:45 PM\nLocation: Appleton Room\, Heard House

DESCRIPTION:Heidi Horner\, archivist at the Ipswich Public Library\, will introduce us to special items from the Ipswich Public Library’s archival collections focused on local history.  Heidi studied archives management and library science at Simmons University\, and got her start in archives at the Cape Ann Museum and the Harvard University Archives. She has lived in Gloucester for 16 years and loves to research Virginia Lee Burton\, the Folly Cove Designers\, and other local creative people and collectives.

DESCRIPTION:These readings of four or five ten minute plays will be performed by award winning professional actors M. Lynda Robinson and Richard McElvain.  Lynda has been working on Boston theatre stage for the last thirty five years. She has founded three theatres\, The Court\, The West End and the Blackburne Performing Arts Theatre. She is an accomplished\, published and produced playwright and has mentored young playwrights for seven years through the MA Young Playwrights Program. Richard McElvain is an actor and director and has appeared in film and television\, as well as on stage throughout the area for the past twenty years.  His directing credits include many of the classics as well as appearing in several episodes of Spence for Hire.
